The 2022 Sparks Hometown Christmas Parade will be celebrating 35 years of tradition on Saturday, December 3. This year’s theme is Merry and Bright.  And it will allow our participants to shine.

Local businesses present this true community event with thousands of your friends and neighbors participating in the parade with floats, bands, costumes, and entertainment.

The City of Sparks’ hometown Christmas parade weekend starts Friday, Dec. 2 with the annual tree lighting ceremony 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. next to the large gazebo on the corner of Victorian Avenue and 11th Street with entertainment from Nevada Gay Men’s Chorus.  Mayor Ed Lawson will flip the switch to light the city’s permanent living Christmas tree, a 60-foot blue spruce. The parade starts on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. starting at Pyramid, moving down Victorian Ave to 15th Street. Come down early to get a photo with Santa or hang out afterwards and see 39 North Pole with their light displays, food, entertainment, and crafters village.

WINTER TIPS FOR DRIVING

Prepare Your Car for Winter
In addition to annual maintenance, here are some tips to winterize your car:

  • Test your battery; battery power drops as the temperature drops

  • Make sure the cooling system is in good working order

  • Have winter tires with a deeper, more flexible tread put on your car

  • If using all-season tires, check the tread on your tires and replace if less than 2/32 of an inch

  • Check the tire pressure; tire pressure drops as the temperature drops

  • Check your wiper blades and replace if needed

  • Add wiper fluid rated for -30 degrees

  • Keep your gas tank at least half full to avoid gas line freeze

Thank you for your business. We look forward to celebrating the spirit of the season with you. We’re sending our very best wishes and we’re adding this special thought too…an extra Merry Christmas we bring all of you. Thank you and happy holidays!
