Watch your speed and leave plenty of room – a gap of at least four seconds – between you and the car in front. Even if you’re driving with rain tires, your stopping distances will be greater than on dry roads. If someone’s driving close on your tail, let them pass. It’s better to have them in front of you than behind.

Put your headlights on but keep them on a dipped beam. Do not use your fog lights.

Be conscious of other fast-moving vehicles. This could temporarily reduce your visibility. Avoid driving fast through puddles close to pedestrians or cyclists. Listen to the radio. Find out if there are any road closures, accidents, or floods on your intended route and work out an alternative journey.

Tips for driving in the rain

  1. Wait Until the Weather Improves if Possible
  2. Double Check Your Car’s Equipment
  3. Slow Down
  4. Turn On Your Headlights
  5. Use Your Windshield Wipers
  6. Maintain a Safe Distance Between Cars
  7. Avoid Heavy Braking
  8. Watch Out for Standing Water
  9. Let Off the Gas When Hydroplaning

Make sure your car can handle the rain. Your tires should be properly inflated — which allows them to have the most traction on the road — and have enough tread.

Feeding Pets of the Homeless to host charity concert, pet food drive at Carson City’s BAC

Feeding Pets of the Homeless is hosting its first ever Give a Dog a Bone Pet Food Drive & Charity Concert at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall in Carson City.

On March 11, take part in what is sure to be an instant classic. Indulge the timeless craft of songwriting, while lending a helping hand to the less fortunate. This one-of-a-kind event features the artistry of world-class regional and local performers: The Sam Chase, Greg Gilmore, and Rachael McElhiney.

The homeless with pets are often desperate to find a shelter to go to that will allow their pets. They seek help to find an agency that will give them pet food.

Pre-Sale tickets are available for just $20, or $17 for seniors and BAC members. Day of show tickets will be available at the door for $25.

6pm Reception, 7pm Concert

We encourage concert goers to bring pet food to help the pets of people experiencing homelessness in Northern Nevada.
