This thanksgiving the Capital Insurance Service, formerly Capital Insurance Service, Team wants to share what they are thankful for in their life this year. For many of us, the meaning of Thanksgiving usually includes feasting, four-day weekends, football games, floats, family reunions, or a forerunner to Christmas festivities. The “first Thanksgiving,” however, was neither a feast nor a holiday, but a simple gathering. Although everyone has a different interpretation of Thanksgiving, many of us can agree that this holiday is a time to reflex and give thanks for the positive outcomes life has provided.

Yesenia:

Things I am Thankful for this year are.. mine and my family’s health—especially my little brothers, who had to overcome so many obstacles this past year. I’m glad I am able to spend more time with him and appreciate our good health. He might be my younger brother but I look up to his strength and positivity.

Early this year I was in an accident that resulted in the total loss of my first car. I had never experienced anything like that before and I thought I would never be able to comfortably drive again—yet I was offered this new job and I made the decision three months after the accident. I told myself that I cannot let this accident ruin my life because driving around is so necessary and important, especially since I have two jobs and go to school. I was able to get my second car all on my own and got over my fear of driving.

I am also thankful for the opportunities that have been presented to me this past year. With new jobs and continuing school, I am excited to see what the future holds and all the success that is bound to be presented to me. I have the opportunity to learn and grow in so many ways and I look forward to what’s in store.

What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish?

Tamales are my favorite dish to have on Thanksgiving. Mainly because my family makes so many, we end up with left overs for days.

I’m honestly not in any position to spend this year, however, as I’ve gotten older I seem to like cyber Monday a lot better because I do not have to leave the comfort of my home. I do like physically going to the stores and stuff but I’m usually spending my time eating tamales and shopping online.

Paola:

Things I am Thankful for this year are.. Family & Friends, they are the most important people in my life I am so thankful for our unity and our health! I am also thankful for my career, as I am now a licensed insurance agent. It took hard work and dedication but I finally got the task done! I’m always thankful for the weekend! Weekends are a time to reflect over the week, relax and enjoy yourself.
