Halloween is a fun night for both children and adults, so don’t forget it still currently COVID-19 pandemic. We are still taking precaution, so that allows children to have fun in a safe manner. We’re still following the COVID-19 guidelines of wearing appropriate face covering or masks, remaining physically distant from others and washing hands frequently. Follow these safety tips to keep your family safe and happy during the celebration.

 

 

BE SEEN

  1. Wear blinking lights, glowsticks, and bright or reflective clothing.
  2. Carry with you a flashlight, glow sticks and headlamps
  3. Drivers may have poor visibility at night and during sun set.
  4. Use caution during these times.
  5. Plan a route
  6. Avoid costumes that may block vision
  7. Never let your kids go out on their own
  8. Cross the streets in groups

 

 

Trick or Treat

  1. Make sure you are with your parents or approved adult
  2. No children under 12 should trick or treat without an adult supervision
  3. Only approach those houses with porch lights on.
  4. Never go inside a stranger’s home.
  5. Stay on the sidewalks
  6. Keep away from cutting across yards or alley’s
  7. Do not bolt out into the street.
  8. Do not eat any candy

 

Checking Candy

  1. Do not eat any candy before check at home
  2. Closely examine all candy
  • Unusual appearance or discoloration
  • Tiny pinholes or tears in wrappers
  • Spoiled or unwrapped items
  1. Discard home made goods, unless you know the maker
  2. Do not eat or accept anything that is not commercially wrapped
  3. Remove choking hazard for young children including:
  • Gum
  • Peanuts
  • Hard candies
  • small toys
  1. when in doubt, throw it out!

Safety Tips for Motorists

  1. Watch for children walking on roadways, media and curbs
  2. Enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully
  3. At afternoon and later in the evening, watch for children in dark clothing
  4. Discourage new drivers from driving on Halloween
  5. Take extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians and on curbs
  6. Turn your headlights on earlier in the day to spot children from greater distances.
  7. Popular trick-or-treating hours are 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Be especially alert for kids during those hours

 

 

Please follow the guidelines keeping safety in mind its important, but this Halloween it’s more important than ever to make sure you’re celebrating the holiday in a way that’s keeping everyone safe. While staying safe during the Covid-19 pandemic, of course, trick-or-treating is a wonderful Halloween tradition, but if it’s not safe. You can still have fun at home.
